Huawei recently unveiled the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, introducing the world’s first tri-fold smartphone last year. Fueled by the advanced Kirin 9010 chipset, this device revolutionized the foldable phone market. Now, Huawei is rumored to be in the works of launching the second-generation triple-fold smartphone, likely to be known as Huawei Mate XT 2. Although official confirmation is pending, leaks suggest that the upcoming tri-fold phone will be available in an expanded range of colors compared to its predecessor.
Insider Digital Chat Station has shared new insights about the Huawei Mate XT 2, revealing an array of color options that include black, purple, red, and white models in addition to the original black and Rui Red versions of the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. Codenamed ‘Greenlan’, the Mate XT 2 is anticipated to hit the market in September as the world’s second mass-produced tri-fold smartphone. Huawei aims to enhance camera capabilities, CPU performance, and hardware features with this new model, surpassing its previous offering.
Huawei Mate XT 2 Specifications (Expected)
Leaked details suggest that the Huawei Mate XT 2 will maintain the same display and battery specs as its predecessor but will upgrade to the newer Kirin 9020 chipset, surpassing the Kirin 9010 found in the original Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. Reports hint at satellite connectivity support and a potential 50-megapixel primary rear camera with a variable aperture. An improved periscope telephoto lens is also projected.
Huawei has allegedly sought regulatory approval for the tri-fold device under the model number GRL-AL20. Following its anticipated launch in China, a global release is in the pipeline. The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design currently stands as the sole commercially available tri-fold smartphone, initially introduced in China last year with a price tag of CNY 19,999 (about Rs. 2,35,900) for the 16GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.
