The recent update on Lyft’s app brings a Safety Hub that allows users to favorite the drivers they prefer, giving them priority for future rides. This feature aims to enhance the ride-sharing experience by letting riders choose their preferred drivers.
Lyft has rolled out a new functionality that eliminates the discomfort of traveling with unfamiliar drivers. Users can now easily favorite or block a driver through the app post-ride.
If you had a pleasant experience with a particular driver and wish to ride with them again, the favoriting option comes in handy. It provides riders a sense of familiarity and ease, especially during rides to or from the airport or dining out.
How to Favorite a Lyft Driver
At the end of your journey, Lyft presents you with the opportunity to favorite a driver on the same screen where you leave feedback and tips. By selecting ‘Favorite this driver,’ Lyft will endeavor to assign you one of your favored drivers for upcoming trips.
While Lyft’s newest feature isn’t groundbreaking, it echoes similar initiatives by Uber, where riders can select preferred drivers although the closest one is ordinarily assigned for convenience.
According to Lyft’s official blog, the purpose of enabling driver favoriting is to recognize exceptional service and responsiveness within the driver community.
Driver’s Perspective
Once a driver is favored, they will receive a notification. Subsequently, when your ride request appears, the driver will be prompted to confirm it through a mobile alert, although it doesn’t guarantee a specific driver request.
Driver Blocking and Enhanced Safety Hub
In addition to the favoriting functionality, Lyft unveiled its new Safety Hub where users can now block drivers they prefer not to travel with in the future. The Safety Hub offers advanced features such as audio recordings, PIN verifications, and the ability to schedule check-ins with designated contacts.
While presently accessible for riders only, Lyft intends to extend the Safety Hub to drivers in the forthcoming updates.
