Bishop Francis Wale Oke, president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, alongside Reverend Mrs. Victoria Oke, has empowered 40 youths in memory of their late daughter, Dorcas Oluwaseyitanfunmi Oke, marking the 40th posthumous anniversary through the Dorcas Oke Hope Alive Initiatives (DOHAL) foundation. Each of the beneficiaries received a N100,000 fund and skill acquisition training. Oke also inaugurated a facility to enhance the foundation’s outreach.
The highlight of the commemoration included an annual public lecture on ‘The Challenges of the African Child’ at Precious Cornerstone University in Ibadan, Oyo State. Notable attendees included former Ajayi Crowther University Vice Chancellor, Bishop Dapo Asaju, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, and Bishop Mike Bamidele. During his lecture, Professor Asaju urged youth to embrace leadership roles, citing historical figures like Joseph, Daniel, and Martin Luther King Jr. as examples of young leaders. He encouraged Nigerian youths to leverage their strengths and innovations for a better future.
Aboyeji stressed integrating entrepreneurship into school curricula, advocating for qualities such as resilience and responsibility. Bishop Bamidele emphasized the need for models and support for the African child, declaring that the time for African youth to lead has arrived.
