Stargazers in the UAE have a celestial treat awaiting them – the Perseid meteor shower active from July 17 to August 23. While the peak on August 12-13 may be affected by moonlight, prime viewing is expected around July 23-24, coinciding with the new moon phase. For optimal experience, escape city lights and head to Al Awir Desert or Hatta for the best stargazing. The Dubai Astronomy Group will also host a special event on August 12 during the Perseid peak, offering expert guidance and telescope stations in a desert camping setup.
