UAE Extends Residency Regularization Deadline to December 31, 2024

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has announced a two-month extension for individuals to regularize their residency status, now due by December 31, 2024. His Excellency Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Authority, indicated that this extension aligns with the UAE’s 53rd National Day celebrations, reflecting the country’s humanitarian values.

This decision aims to accommodate the aspirations of individuals wishing to either rectify their status, leave the country, or secure work contracts. The extension follows feedback from customer engagement teams noting an increasing demand in service centers as the original deadline of October 31, 2024, approached.

Major General Al Khaili emphasized that this is the final chance for offenders to correct their status, exempting them from fines and avoiding any entry bans, showcasing the initiative’s humanitarian focus. He noted the recent high turnout of individuals taking advantage of this opportunity and mentioned the collaborative efforts of the Authority and its partners in addressing various challenges within the legal framework.

However, he stressed that after the extended deadline, fines will be reinstated for ongoing violations, and inspection campaigns will be intensified to identify non-compliant individuals.
