Vantage Data Centers has commenced construction on a significant $2 billion data center campus in New Albany, Ohio, marking its debut major infrastructure project in the Midwest. Located near Columbus, the campus will cover 70 acres and is designed to ultimately offer over 15 million square feet of space, along with 192 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity, establishing Ohio as a crucial hub for global cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).
The first building’s construction is anticipated to be completed by late 2025, aligning with Vantage’s strategy to meet the increasing demand for secure and sustainable data solutions. New Albany was selected for its fast-growing technology sector and favorable market conditions, aiming to attract hyperscale clients—major tech firms in need of scalable data storage.
His central position in Ohio enhances logistics, promoting further tech investments and competitive conditions for tech-centered construction and job creation. The project also supports Vantage’s goal of achieving net-zero operational carbon emissions by 2030, incorporating energy-efficient designs and striving for LEED Silver accreditation.
Moreover, Vantage plans to contribute to local workforce development through partnerships with community organizations, offering specialized training and career advancement programs to cultivate a skilled workforce for the data center industry.
