The 32nd Hong Kong International Optical Fair organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA), is set to take place on November 6-8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the theme ‘Seeing is Believing,’ the fair will spotlight innovative eyewear designs and products, providing a networking platform for industry professionals to explore new business opportunities.
Sophia Chong, Acting Executive Director of the HKTDC, noted that this year’s fair is more international than ever, attracting over 700 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions. The event reflects major trends in the eyewear industry, including technology, lifestyle, functionality, and sustainability. As the world’s third-largest exporter of eyewear, Hong Kong is positioned to showcase the dynamic evolution in eyewear design and technology.
The total export value of Hong Kong’s eyewear, lenses, and frames is projected to reach HK$199 billion in 2023, highlighting significant growth in the sector. The smart eyewear market, in particular, has become a focal point, with the global market size exceeding HK$40 billion in 2023 and expected to surpass HK$100 billion by 2029.
Exhibitors from Europe and the Americas, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Turkey, will present their latest products. Established Hong Kong brands will also make a notable presence.
This year’s fair will feature various group pavilions, including those from Mainland China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, in addition to the Visionaries of Style and HKOMA Pavilion. The Brand Name Gallery, a significant highlight of the fair, will showcase over 200 renowned global brands. Other specialized zones will exhibit a wide range of eyewear products, including smart eyewear, contact lenses, accessories, sporting and professional eyewear, kids’ eyewear, reading glasses, and diagnostic instruments.
Additionally, the 22nd Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium will be conducted on November 7. Organized by HKTDC, the Hong Kong Optometric Association, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, this year’s symposium will focus on myopia control and prevention. Industry experts from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Australia, and Germany will lead discussions during this pre-approved CPD Programme.
Alongside the fair, seminars and talks covering advancements in smart eyewear, functional eyewear, sustainability, and other industry trends will be available. To promote creativity, the HKTDC and HKOMA will hold the 24th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition under the theme ‘Be Bold,’ revealing the finalists during the event. Winning entries will be displayed in The Forum Hall 1D throughout the fair.
To enhance the experience for both exhibitors and buyers, the fair will incorporate a hybrid model, allowing online meetings via the Click2Match platform and features through the HKTDC Marketplace App for easier engagement and information access.
